“I am essentially unaware of where I am until the moment the burst of my flash bleaches my immediate surroundings, before promptly being plunged back into the enveloping darkness. What remains are these fragmented, blown-out impressions of plants, buildings, raindrops in the air – rendered as flat forms, almost as if they have been removed from the scene, revealing the blank paper behind the frame. Photography allows me to see when my eyes alone cannot, but not before it has warped reality to its liking; leaving me only these deceptive, abstract guises.”

BLOWUP is an installation piece, consisting of seven oversized images, hinged together to form a room.
